Slow
In 2024, FUJI FURNITURE introduced a new reclining chair.
With its high-back design that allows you to comfortably and securely rest your body, and its voluminous cushions, the chair features a molded plywood frame that conveys a sense of lightness and a clean silhouette, resulting in a design that seamlessly blends into any space.
While inheriting the seat angle and size settings of previous FUJI FURNITURE reclining chairs, this new chair incorporates innovations such as revised cushioning materials for enhanced comfort, an upholstery covering system for easy maintenance and longevity, and a knockdown design. These features combine to create a reclining chair unlike any other.

Director’s Message
To fully enjoy comfortable moments, both the seating experience and visual satisfaction are important.
Slow offers two frame finishes: black and clear. You can also choose from walnut or oak for the armrests, allowing you to select your preferred combination.
Additionally, Slow features a completely knockdown frame, including the armrests, so that parts can be disassembled with just a screwdriver for repair or replacement. It is a long-life design that remains beautiful over time.
The armrests, naturally reached for when seated, are crafted in abundance from solid wood. There are no monotonous sections; the entire armrest is finished with subtly changing gentle curves, ensuring comfort no matter where you touch.
Particularly, the front part of the armrest is shaped to feel as if it grips your hand when you stand up or sit down. The warmth of the wood along your fingers when you grip it is one of the thoughtful details that make your time in the reclining chair more serene.
While high-back chairs provide a sense of security by firmly supporting the body, they inevitably have a strong physical presence. To harmonize with the molded plywood frame, Slow eliminates as much visual weight creating elements from the back as possible.
Traditionally, reclining chairs have used zippers in the center of the back during upholstery, but Slow achieves its finish without zippers. Upholstery is a particularly demanding process in furniture making, and using zippers has ensured stable quality. Slow’s backrest is shell-shaped, requiring even greater skill in upholstery. Achieving this zipperless design on a complex shape is a testament ton the technical expertise that FUJI FURNITURE’s has cultivated over the years.
Additionally, the backrest is seamless, without the dividing lines of zippers or seams, avoiding any sense of heaviness or rigidity. The result is a light, airy feel without compromising on comfort.
To enjoy peaceful moments of relaxation, Slow is designed for a sense of comfort akin to lying down, rather than just sitting. For the first time in FUJI FURNITURE’s reclining chairs, feather cushions are used in the back and seat. The feathers are mixed with silicone fill, providing a balance of softness and resilience. The position that feels “just right” for us varies with our day-to-day physical condition. The upper part of the back frame extends forward, so that comfort is comfort without cushion displacement is ensured regardless of head position.
The reclining chair envelops the body, inviting you to slumber with its softness and sense of security.
Thanks to the infinitely adjustable reclining seat, you can sit at your preferred angle. The reclining function operates through lever control and weight shift, allowing you to fix the backrest angle anywhere between 100° and 130° simply by releasing the lever when you find your comfortable position.
The reclining lever is discreetly placed under the seat, and the sides of the seat are designed to minimize the visibility of the reclining mechanism.
This design emphasizes visual comfort while ensuring functionality.
The original concept of Slow is based on the Rauha series, born from FUJI FURNITURE’s years of cultivated expertise and innovative design.
The idea is to create a space where you can cherish each day and spend your valuable time. The ambiance effortlessly blends into the interior space, aiming to be a comforting presence that complements the life and daily moments you desire.
The most distinctive feature of Slow is the contrast between the molded plywood frame and the solid wood armrests. By maximizing the lightness of the molded plywood and the heaviness and texture of the solid wood, each element enhances the other. The design incorporates the characteristics of each material with meticulous attention to create this synergy.
The armrests, handcrafted by artisans, were scanned with a 3D scanner to create a blueprint of the curves, ensuring they matched the designer’s intentions. The complex curves, free of monotony, were translated from skillful handcrafting into machine-processable diagrams.
The sophisticated, pleasant lines of the armrests are achieved through NC machine processing. Typically, a single curve is carved using shaped blades, but for these complex curves, ball-shaped blades are used, taking more time to carve. Despite this complexity, the stable machining process minimizes the need for hand-finishing by artisans, keeping production time comparable to that of single curves. This ensures high quality within the same production timeframe as before.
Novo
The Novo sofa, available in 21 models with various combinations, has expanded its lineup to a total of 84 variations with the addition of a low-leg type and a wide-depth specification with 100mm more depth. Furthermore, to enhance your time spent on the sofa, gusseted pillow cushions and headrests were added in 2024.

The newly added gusseted pillow cushion is 100mm taller and 70mm thicker than the existing gusseted pillow cushions (O01410Z/20Z/30Z). It comes in two sizes, 580mm and 750mm in width, allowing you to choose according to your preference.
The cushion is a 50:50 blend of down feathers and ball cotton, offering a combination of the sinking softness of feathers and the moderate elasticity of ball cotton, providing exceptional comfort when you lean back.

The headrest can be used in combination with the gusseted pillow cushion to maximize their potential.
Previously, headrests had to be inserted with metal fittings between the sofa body and the back cushion, making them incompatible with models like Novo where the sofa body and back cushion are integrated.
The newly designed headrest is set on top of the sofa back, and by placing the anchoring fabric under the seat cushion, it prevents slipping. Since it does not use any metal fittings for fixation, the anchoring fabric can be rolled up and compacted when not in use.
Owl
Only three years since its release in 2021, the Owl series has been beloved by many customers. The powerful, beautiful, yet somewhat delicate impression of a bird taking flight is captured in this comfortable chair. Now a staple of dining sets, the Owl series introduces new items.
As a wider type with a 50mm broader seat than the regular type, the series now includes both chairs with armrests and without. A spacious sizing that will provide a relaxing experience to be loved by more of our customers.
As the months passed since the birth of the owl series, there was a demand for more size variations. We asked designer Kazushi Suzuki, the creator of the series, to create a wide version of the chair. Inititally, the plan was to kep the same depth as the regular type and increase only the width of the chair by 50mm. However, for better back support, an arc shape offset from the regular type was adopted.
Even when placed next to the regular type, this chair maintains a harmonious appearance and comfortable seating experience. Both versions share the same frame, so the seat and arm height remain unchanged, only the dimensions of the back and seat were adjusted. This ensures a unified look and feel while allowing each family member to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle.

Hybrid Table
For a sustainable future, actions related to sustainability and SDGs are increasingly being incorporated into various aspects of daily life. In recent years, the concept of regeneration, which goes beyond sustainability and SDGs, has garnered attention worldwide. The primary goal of sustainability is to maintain the status quo, whereas regeneration aims at restoration and recovery, emphasizing positive environmental efforts.
The main material of FUJI FURNITURE products is wood, with only about 30% of the raw logs being used for products. To reduce environmental impact, it is necessary to use this 30% without waste and to utilize it effectively. FUJI FURNITURE has developed a hybrid table by using rubber lumber for the core material of tabletops that were previously made entirely of solid wood, thereby reducing the use of high-value materials such as walnut and oak.
Rubber trees, which provide latex for rubber products, yield less sap over time and are typically disposed of after being cut down.
However, this wood from felled trees is reused as laminated wood (rubber lumber) and has recently gained attention as an eco-friendly material.0
By using eco-friendly materials and aiming to reduce the use of high-value materials, hybrid tables strive to minimize environmental impact.
